She had a first class ticket
She found it in the gutter
She heard there was a place on earth
Was unlike any other
She had old conversations
She wrote them in a book
From time to time she’d rewind
The old words that she spoke
She had one place she wanted to be
Gave up on love at age twenty three
A big white sign she got off the train
Nobody saw her ever again

I don’t know why, perhaps it’s my sense of drama, but I find the ending chilling in its uncertainty. I read too many James Elroy novels, I think. But the 50 word format allows you to do that and you’ve done it so well in ‘She Found it In’.

There are so many ways to “travel” through that piece of writing. Smartly put. I like great endings, and that’s a great ending.
